Veg Biryani



Preparation time: 10-15 mins

Cooking time : 10-15 mins

Ingredients
  • Basmati Rice - 2 cups ( serves 4 )
  • Onion - 1 small (diced in slices)
  • Chopped carrot - 1/2 cup
  • Small potato - 1 - chopped in cubes
  • Beans - 1/2 cup
  • Peas - 1/2 cup
  • curd - 1 tbspn
  • Water - 400-500 ml
  • Oil - 2 tbspn
  • Green chilli - 2-3
  • Bayleaf - 1-2
  • Cloves - 2-3
  • Cinnamon Stick - 1 small
  • Ginger & garlice paste - 1/2 tspn
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Garam Masala - 1/4 tspn
  • Veg Biryani Powder - 1 tspn
  • Mustard/ Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tspn
  • Salt 


Steps :
  1. Once you start the chopping / preparation , soak the rice in water in parallel (for 10-15 mins) . 
  2. Take a pressure cooker ( for me rice comes split and separate only in a big cooker ) and add oil to it.
  3. When the oil is hot - add Mustard/ Cumin Seeds , Cinnamon Stick , Cloves, Bayleaf .
  4. Then add onion and stir it for 2-3 mins. Once the onion turns soft add - carrot , peas , beans , potato.
  5. Add spices and then add water. Once the water comes to a boil add curd .
  6. Add Rice and let it cook for 1 whistle on medium flame.
Serve with Boondi Raita !

Hi Mitu

Tried this , and it came out really well. For the first time the rice was not sticking together :)
I used the exact same amy of water as u suggested and used a big pressure cooker too!
Way to go. Good tips, and keep them coming
