This rice recipe is very handy when there are no veggies at home or running out of time or feeling low..

Ingredients :
- Sona masoori rice - 3/4th rice
- Yellow moong dal - 1/4th cup
- Cumin seeds - 1 tspn
- Turmeric powder - 1 pinch
- Chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
- Asafoetida / hing powder -1/4th tspn
- Salt - 1 tspn
- Oil - 1 tbspn
- Water - 500 ml
Steps :
- Wash rice & moong dal together and keep aside.
- Take a pressure cooker and add oil to it . Once the oil is hot add cumin seeds and all the spices and immediately add water ( make sure the spices do not get over heated & burnt in oil).
- Then add rice and moong dal. And let it cook for 2 whistles on medium low flame.
- Once the pressure cooker is ready to open , open it and smash the hot Khichdi nicely with a spatula.
Khichdi is ready to be served with curd or pickle !

Yes its almost similar to pongal except it doesnt have - green chilli and pepper seeds
