Ingredients :
- Basmati rice - 1 1/2 cup ( serves 4 )
- Small Mushrooms - 2 cups
- Red Onion - 1 small ( chopped long )
- Tomato - 1 1/2 chopped small
- ginger / garlic paste - 1 tspn
- mustard / cumin seeds - 1/2 tspn
- cinnamon stick - 1 small
- cloves - 2-3
- bay leaf - 2
- cardamon - 1
- Curd - 2 tbspn
- green chilli -2 -3 ( slitted long)
- Red Chilli powder - 1 tspn
- Salt - 1 tspn
- Garam Masala - 1/2 tspn
- Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tspn
- ghee/butter (as per wish)
- Oil - 3 tbspn
Steps:
- Soak Basmati rice for 20-30 mins.
- And on side boil mushrooms for 15 mins in salt water . This will reduce the smell of mushroom.
- In a big cooker add oil . When the oil is hot add - mustard seeds ,cumin seeds , cardamon , cinnamon stick , cloves.
- Then add onions and stir it for 2-3 mins. Once onion is soft , add ginger.garlic paste.
- Then add tomatoes . Stir for 3-4 mins.
- Then add all the spices (including salt ) and add 500 ml of water.
- Once the water is boiling add curd and let it boil for 2-3 mins.
- Then add rice , mushrooms and one more 1 big glass of water. ( Tip : for the rice to some separate grains add approx 300 ml water : 1 cup rice )
- Let the rice cook on medium flame for 2 whistles.
